Quique Setién Flattered By Reports Linking Him As Ernesto Valverde’s Replacement At Barcelona

Real Betis manager Quique Setién is reportedly on Barcelona’s radar as a possible replacement for Ernesto Valverde. Although he takes the rumours as a compliment.
“This is the same thing that was discussed with the Spanish national team. I’m flattered that it has come out, but if we pay attention to everything that comes out… Barcelona have a great coach, you have to respect him, especially colleagues,” said the ‘verdiblanco’ coach in an interview for ‘Canal Sur’.
In this sense, Setién wanted to emphasize in his speech and spoke in favor of Ernesto Valverde: “He is doing a great job and I think Barcelona are looking good, regardless of whether they fail”.
Quique Setién also underlined his concentration on the current Betis season: “I am thinking about Valladolid, that we have to play well and maintain the intensity. I don’t like [international] breaks, you have a string good performances and they cut that streak. That’s what worries me.”
However, Setién again complained publicly about the state of the Betis training camps: “I’m very happy in Seville with a lot of things, but not with everything. There are things that worry me a lot, but it can’t always be repeated”.
“The state of the training camps, as I’ve already told the club, is a very serious matter. We can’t get the pitches to be suitable for work”, he said bluntly.
